During the blackout, the Air Corps provided assistance with taking photographs and dropping flares to simulate an air raid during the blackout. (See SA Light, 12-17-41) Also the event was reported from the top of the Milam Building by various military and city officials (SA Light 12-18-1941) Attached note: "From Headquarters The Air Corps Advanced Flying School, Brooks Field School Memorandum to Commissioner P.L. Anderson SAT Date: Dec. 22 1941 Sir, Transmitted herewith is your set of prints covering the activities as photographed in San Antonio prior to the blackout Dec. 17, 1941. For the commanding officer, Thurman Bercaw, Second Lieut. Air Corps Photographic Officer." |
